Responsibility of village police
Responsibility of village police in maintaining law and order in union area:
1. Guarding and patrolling the union day and night:
2. To assist the police in investigating and suppressing all matters connected with crime and arresting criminals;
3. To observe the movement of persons of bad character in the Union and to inform the officer-in-charge of the police station;
4. To notify the officer-in-charge of the police station about the presence of any suspicious person coming from the surrounding area;
5. Assist the Chairman in discharging the official duties of the Union Parishad;
6. Immediately dismiss the officer-in-charge of the police station for the following offenses in the union:

Concealment of Birth and Death Information by Surreptitious Removal of Dead Bodies:
Pushing a child out of the house to die:
Damage caused by fire:
Injuring or injuring cattle by poisoning:
Homicide or attempted suicide:
Terrorism and social unrest
1. Assisting with necessary information during discussion about terrorist activities in the meeting of the Law and Order Standing Committee of the Parishad:
2. To help review terrorist activities in the area and identify local terrorists:
3. Assistance in gathering potential information on terrorist activities through the Beige Line Survey:
Role of village police in the welfare of the disabled:
1. Helping locate unemployed, destitute and disabled persons:
2. Notifying law enforcement agencies to protect persons with disabilities from harassment and fraud:
3. Assist in preparation of separate lists of persons with disabilities identified in the census:
